I LIKE TO GET THINGS DONE
I have had a wide range of experience, both personal and professional, that has given me a unique perspective on the issues facing our city. I have been a consensus builder and I have tried to moderate some of the rhetoric that goes along with controversial issues. I believe that finding common ground between the opposing sides of a debate is essential to reaching productive solutions. I will continue to take this approach in my second term.
I am also the kind of person who likes to roll up her sleeves and get things done. I believe it is up to all of us to make Venice the best it can be. My approach is to look for straightforward solutions and move as quickly as possible to implement them. I believe this is what makes me a valuable asset to the VNC.
Here is a little more about me:
VNC ACCOMPLISHMENTS
As an incumbent member of the VNC, I have been very active and involved with all elements of the Council. I attend all meetings and try to be well-prepared. As a member of the Environmental Committee, I organized neighborhood trash pick ups and also put together a monthly E-waste disposal program at the Farmers Market. I serve on the Administrative Committee, which is instrumental to determining the priorities of the VNC.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a BA in Economics from UCLA and an MBA from Pepperdine. I began my career with positions in investment banking and international finance. I lived in East Asia for several years and I am fluent (although a bit rusty) in Japanese. Later, I held management positions with two major companies in the entertainment industry. More recently, I was a founder of a small independent production company, headquartered here in Venice, that produced both TV and theatrical projects. Our movie SUGAR, which premiered in November 2013, was filmed in Venice and dealt with the issue of homeless youth, a topic that Venice Beach and the Neighborhood Council deals with regularly. Prior to my production company, I managed the release of Blu-Ray Disc.
PERSONAL
I grew up in Santa Monica and except for some time in New York and East Asia have lived on the Westside, primarily in Venice my whole life. I've been in Venice the past 12 years plus two additional in the late 80's when Venice was still very much the Wild West. I love where I live and the people in my community and choose Venice as the place to raise a family.
